Background
The Midnight Sun Marathon Foundation (MSM) was established in 1989. MSM collaborates with various sports clubs to organize sports, athletics and cultural events. We organize a number of events every year, the most famous of which is of course the Midnight Sun Marathon.
The purpose of the foundation is to organize races and similar sporting events, as well as coordinate associated events with broad local, national and international participation under the brand name Midnight Sun Marathon. The events will also contribute to the desire to live, and make Tromsø and the region an attractive travel destination.
About the scholarship
The Midnight Sun Marathon Foundation In 2026, four sports scholarships of NOK 25,000 will be awarded to young, talented athletes from Northern Norway who have each excelled in their sport.
The scholarship is awarded to younger athletes in the establishment phase, who are among the top in their discipline. Athletes must be able to demonstrate national and/or international placements.
The deadline for submitting applications or proposals for the scholarships is May 7, 2026.
Criteria
- The sports scholarship is awarded to individual athletes from Northern Norway.
- The candidate must be between the ages of 15 (turning 15 in 2026) and 20 (turning 20 in 2026).
- The candidate must represent a sports team in Northern Norway, the sports team must be affiliated with the Norwegian Sports Federation.
- The candidate can only receive the scholarship once.
- Candidates who are temporarily residing outside Northern Norway, for example students, are full candidates.
