Tromsø has a long tradition of street and mountain running, and a strong and active running community. Here you will find a brief overview of the most important races and running clubs you can participate in.
TUIL Run
TUIL løp is a traditional club located in Tromsdalen. The club started the Midnight Sun Marathon in 1990, and is today the organizing club for all MSM races.
TUIL Løp is part of TUIL – a club that was founded as early as 1938. Today, TUIL has 5 independent teams that organize the activities of football, skiing, gymnastics, dance and athletics. These teams own the limited company which in turn owns and operates Tromsø Lodge and camping, sports facilities, a training center and buildings for rental. The organization's activities facilitate great activity and many jobs.
TUIL Løp organizes the traditional TUIL relay race, as well as the TUIL carousel for children.
BUL Tromsø
BUL has very strong traditions, and was for many years the dominant running club in Tromsø. BUL is a full-scale athletics club, and has members of all ages and sports.
The club does not organize street races, but has a number of events on the track. The most important is the Tromsø Games, which in 2026 will take place on May 30-31 at Valhall Stadium.

The club's goals are to give members the opportunity to develop as runners, and to create a social and inclusive environment.
The club is behind one of Tromsø's most prestigious races, Eidemila. In 2026, it will be held on May 31. Tromsø Running Club also organizes the Junior Carousel.
Northern Runners
Northern Runners was established as a social running club long before this became trendy.
They currently have a large membership and are highly visible in the city.
Do you have a twinkle in your eye, are you social, committed and do you like to run a few times a week, preferably with someone? Do you also have a goal of participating in one or more races a year? Then Northern Runners might be the club for you!
Mainland Running Club
Started in 2024 by Henrik Gjerdrum Bakkeland, with a simple goal: to make running more social, inclusive and motivating. Fastlandet Løpeklubb is a free and open club for everyone. There are no requirements for level, experience or speed - the most important thing is that you want to join. We emphasize that everyone should feel welcome, regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experienced runner.
All information about upcoming sessions and events is posted on Strava.
We also actively use Instagram to share photos, updates and glimpses from everyday life at the club.
Arctic Blizzard

Arctic Blizzard was started in 2024 with the goal of bringing together both local and international runners. This is the only English-speaking running group in Tromsø, with participants from locals, immigrants from all over the world and visitors. We run twice a week, all year round, and share all information via Strava , Instagram and the Oak app. We believe that running should be inclusive for everyone, and we place great emphasis on the social aspect.

Tromsø's most active organizer next to Midnight Sun Marathon. Organizes Tromsøkarusellen every Tuesday during the summer months, and offers a wide range of distances and surfaces. Also check out the innovation on August 18th - corporate relay at Charlottenlund!
Race in Tromsø in 2026
Tromsø has a number of races, and the density is highest in May and June, as well as August and September. All races are open to everyone, but follow the Norwegian Athletics Federation's guidelines for age limits.
